Summer 2017 Camp Programs

Cabaret Camp

All Skill Levels! Space is Limited! Ages 7 – 18 (groups split by age)

In this weeklong program, campers of all skill levels will work with Broadway’s Kat Nejat (WEST SIDE STORY, LYSISTRADA JONES) or Broadway’s Alessa Neeck (CINDERELLA) and a wonderful Music Director on what will ultimately be a fantastic performance at an Off-Broadway Theatre in NYC! All students will be featured in solo performances, small group numbers and two big full-cast numbers!

Cabaret Camp will be focused directly on showcasing all of our campers individually! If you are a strong dancer, a strong singer or a triple threat, you will put your best foot forward in our big musical finale, The Cabaret!

In addition to rehearsing for the A Class Act NY Cabaret, campers will take workshops with special guest Broadway Actors!

Workshops with Broadway Guest Artists Include:
Broadway Dance    • Improvisation    • Stage Presence and Performance

Broadway Matinee & Talkback:
 On Wednesday, campers will be treated to a Broadway Matinee performance of WAITRESS and a Talkback with actors after the show!

Off-Broadway Debut – The Cabaret:
Friends and family are encouraged to come out and support our Cabaret Campers as they take the stage for their final showcase at a beautiful Off-Broadway Theatre in NYC!

NEW! Character Camp: Creating Characters through Voice-Over Technique, On-Camera Acting, Improvisation & Morin Dallas, TX

All skill levels!Ages 8-18

Great program for non-musical theatre kids!

Join us in Dallas for a brand new program! Introducing Character Camp: creating characters through Voice-Over technique, On-Camera acting, Improvisation & More!

Instructor: Broadway and On-Camera Performer and Producer, Ashley Kate Adams

In this comprehensive voice-over, on-camera, improvisation and scene study camp, actors will learn how to make bold and interesting character choices applicable to each medium. Whether it’s stage acting, on-camera acting or voice-over acting, kids will learn to use their physicality and intellect to create compelling characters!

Workshops with an On-Camera, Voice-over and a Broadway actor/director Include:
• Commercial acting and audition technique    • Sitcom acting and audition technique    • Dramatic film and TV scenes    • Physicality and movement for actors    • On-camera auditions     • Scene study    • Voice-over for animated TV shows    • Voice-over for commercials

Final Showcase: Camp culminates in a final showcase of scene work and newly-learned skills for family and friends!

Broadway Matinee: On Wednesday, July ACANY campers are treated to a Broadway Matinee performance of ON YOUR FEET and a Talkback with cast members!

Off-Broadway Debut – The Final Showcase:
At the end of the week, campers make their Off-Broadway Debut in a musical revue at an exciting Off-Broadway Theatre in NYC!

We are accepting video auditions now (see below). The deadline for audition submissions is August 1.

Space is limited to 24 Participants. This program ends in a final performance designed to showcase the skills and challenging material students have mastered throughout the week!

A Class Act NY’s Pre-Professional Program is for a select group of young artists who are ready for the challenge of growing their theatre performance skills and are looking forward to exploring more advanced work.

Pre-Professional Program faculty include Broadway Theatre Actors and Industry Professionals interested in sharing methods and insights with those seeking to expand their craft and explore creative expression.

Broadway Matinee: On Wednesday, July participants are treated to a Broadway Matinee performance of BEAUTIFUL (Junior) or THE GREAT COMET (Senior) and a Talkback with cast members! August participants are treated to a Broadway Matinee performance of ON YOUR FEET (Junior) or COME FROM AWAY (Senior) and a Talkback with cast members!

Private lessons and group instruction: A combination of private and group instruction will provide participants with a unique week-long experience.

Video Audition Instructions:
Please sing 32-bars, a cappella, of a musical theatre song that is age appropriate and perform a one-minute contemporary monologue from a staged play (stay away from classical material such as Shakespeare). Click here  for self-tape guidelines and video submission instructions.


NYC Broadway Boot Camp

A Class Act NY is now accepting registration for performers of all skill levels, ages 7-18, to participate in our Broadway Boot Camp! In this comprehensive musical theatre program, campers will work with a Broadway Actor and Professional Music Director on song and dance numbers from different eras in Broadway history, from the old classics to the hits of today! Camp culminates in a final showcase for friends and family!

Hone your musical theatre chops in a fun, safe and supportive environment!

New and improved program for 2017! Campers will take exciting workshops with various Broadway guest artists, in addition to working with their Broadway camp director!

Camp ACANY is a one-week Broadway camp that has kids clamoring to come back each summer. We will be back on Long Island for our 10th summer!

In addition to learning song-and-dance numbers from beloved Broadway musicals, campers will take workshops with visiting guest artists and attend a Broadway matinee and talkback! Camp culminates in a final showcase for friends and family in an Off-Broadway theatre in NYC!
